Gift Guide For The Broke College Student

Let’s be real for a minute. I love this time of year. What I don’t love is struggling to find the perfect gifts for my friends and family when I can barely afford my groceries. I came up with a few ideas for affordable gifts that will suit people of all tastes and are easy to put together. They won’t break the bank and they’re personal enough to show those special people in your life how much you love them.

The artsy/creative one:
-Books (if they love to read you can’t go wrong with this and Amazon has books for dirt-cheap)
-Nice notebook/journal with fancy pens (if they like to write/doodle)
-Scrapbook (if they take a lot of pictures)
-Art supplies (depending on what kind of art they’re into)

The sweet tooth/foodie:
-Mason jar filled with sweets
-Gourmet foods/snacks (places like TJ Maxx and Marshals have a wide variety of options that are inexpensive)
-Snack basket (make sure to include all their favorite go-to snacks)
-Homemade Christmas cookies or cupcakes (check out Pinterest for tons of recipes)

The girly girl:
-Spa basket (face mask, hair mask, bath salts, body lotion etc.)
-Custom nail kit (nail polish, polish remover, nail file, nail clippers, cuticle pusher, lotion, comfy slippers)
-DIY sugar scrub (there are endless recipes on Google and Pinterest)

The techy:
-New laptop cover (get one in their favorite color or a fun design)
-Fun keyboard cover
-New phone case

The movie buff:
-“Movie night” basket (DVDs, popcorn, candy, comfy blanket)
-Movie date to see a film of their choice (tickets and popcorn are on you)

The fitness fanatic:
-New gym bag
-New shaker bottle/water bottle
-Supplement stack (find out what their favorite supplements are first)

The parents:
-Mason jar filled with your most memorable moments together (so when they miss you while you’re away at school they can read them)
-Take them to dinner (they’ll cherish the experience and time with you more than a physical gift)

Of course spending time with loved ones is the best part about the holidays, but these gift ideas can’t hurt either. I hope this helped all my fellow broke college students out there. Happy holidays!
