5 Healthy Ways to Start Your Day

Today I'm sharing five healthy ways that you can start your day. I'm not a morning person at all! Anyone that has ever known me knows that. Stay out of my way in the morning! But, I am trying to be a morning person, and I do follow the same routine each morning. I have been bad about hitting snooze and staying in bed until I just absolutely have to get up. And that throws off my whole day. I'm running late, sometimes having to skip breakfast, and then trying to start my day when I'm all out of sorts! But, the last several months I have been trying to start my day better. Your morning sets the tone for the whole day. Here are some healthy ways to start your day that will leave you feeling energized and ready to tackle whatever comes your way!

Wake up 15-30 minutes earlier than you need to. Don't hit snooze and actually get up. This extra time will help you to wake up and get some things done. That extra little bit of time can make all the difference in the world. And, if you're like me, you need all the extra time in the morning that you can get.

Drink lemon water. After being asleep all night, your body needs to rehydrate. I have a glass of water as soon as I wake up, and then follow it with green tea. There are so many benefits of drinking lemon water. It improves digestion, aids in weight loss, and is a great source of vitamin C.

Do a quick workout and get moving. Just 10 minutes of cardio will get your body moving and awake and will jumpstart your metabolism. Or, if you don't want to workout, just spend some time stretching.

Take time to eat a healthy breakfast. Don't skip breakfast. Eating breakfast will get your metabolism going and it will give you energy and keep you from overeating at lunch. Make sure to eat something with protein to fill you up.

Spend a few minutes planning your day. If you have a plan for the rest of your day, then you are ready to get started. I love having a to-do list so I can cross things off. That helps me to know for sure what I need to do during the day. If you are organized, you will be motivated to get things done!
